Your Privacy

The Mississauga Halton Central Intake Program is a not for profit, government funded program dedicated to managing referrals for various services.

In order to facilitate the program mandate, Central Intake operates under the authority of the Personal Health Information Protection Act, 2004 as a “Health Information Network Provider” for the health information custodians who contribute data to the eReferral application.

The Components of Central Intake Privacy & Security Program include:

Threat Risk Assessment

Risk assessment is the process of characterizing the nature and likelihood of a harmful effect to individuals or populations from certain human activities.

Privacy Impact Assessment

A PIA is a formal risk management tool used to identify the actual or potential effects that a proposed or existing information system, technology or program may have on individuals’ privacy. A PIA also identifies ways in which privacy risks can be mitigated.

Central Intake understands the importance of ensuring the privacy of the personal health information it maintains.

We are committed to respecting personal privacy, safeguarding confidential information, and managing the security of the personal health information within our eReferral application. We meet this commitment through building privacy controls into operational processes, as well as ensuring privacy best practices are being met.
